Arbitrum Odyssey | LI.FI x BlockWallet | Euro Coin | Cross-Chain NFTs & More!
Last Week In The Multi-Chain Ecosystem (13th to 19th June 2022)
Bridge Updates
1) Arbitrum Odyssey Bridge Week 🌉
The Arbitrum Odyssey will officially start on Tuesday, June 21st, 2022 at 1pm EST. Starting with bridge week, users can bridge ETH to Arbitrum and claim their first NFT at the end of the week.
Users can bridge to Arbitrum via transferto.xyz, powered by LI.FI, or via other bridges beginning tomorrow and get an NFT as part of Arbitrum Odyssey.
2) LI.FI Now Supports BlockWallet 🤝🏻
LI.FI has integrated Blockwallet, a self-custodial crypto wallet with advanced privacy tools wrapped in a familiar and user-friendly experience. Blockwallet users can now bridge and swap across 15 chains via transferto.xyz.
3) Trust Minimized Cross-Chain NFTs Powered by Connext 😍
NFT Hashi, an NFT bridge protocol powered by Connext, has introduced cross-chain NFT bridging. It supports transferring the NFTs between the different chains via two types of bridge systems — Wrap Pattern and Native Support Pattern. NFT Hashi uses Connext for cross-chain messaging.
4) deBridge Now Supports Fantom 🚀
deBridge support for Fantom is now live. Developers can start using deBridge to power secure, seamless cross-chain experiences between Fantom and all supported chains.
5) EIP-5164: Cross-Chain Execution 🤔
@b_asselstine introduces EIP-5164: Cross-Chain Execution. EIP-5164 standardizes EVM-to-EVM bridges as it defines a cross-chain execution interface for EVM-based blockchains. Users of this spec will be able to have contracts on one chain call contracts on another chain.
Multi-Chain Ecosystem Updates
1) Osmosis Relaunch 💪🏻
After last week’s $5m exploit in Osmosis liquidity pools, which resulted in the AMM being halted by the validators, Osmosis is now back online. The team has paid out all the LP and staking rewards due during the downtime.
2) Polygon x Web3 Gaming 🤝🏻
Polygon has partnered with game studious to build the future of gaming on Polygon. The team aims to bring new gaming projects to the Polygon ecosystem and announced three titles coming to Polygon — Derby Stars, Metalcore, and Wildcard by Playful Studios.
3) MetaMask and Phantom Warning ⚠️
Security researchers at Halborn disclosed a vulnerability in older versions of wallets like MetaMask and Phantom. With this vulnerability, users who imported their wallets with a secret recovery phrase were at risk if a sufficiently advanced attacker gained control of their device. Users are advised to check the guidelines and take the required safety actions.
4) Circle Launches Euro Coin 👏🏻
Circle has announced their 2nd major fiat-backed stablecoin, Euro Coin or EUROC. Euro Coin is now live on Ethereum Mainnet and will be available to mint and redeem on June 30th.
5) Merge Scheduled for September? 🤔
According to Evan Van Ness, the founder of “Week in Ethereum News”, the Merge has been scheduled for mid/late September. The Merge will see Ethereum transition from PoW to PoS.
6) Harmony: Crosslink Heart Heat Signal Update 🧐
Harmony devs submit the first part of the code for the crosslink heart beat signal feature that will enable shard 0 validators to broadcast the latest crosslinks they receive from other shards. Crosslink heart heat signal update is Harmony’s attempt to remove the dependency of the beacon chain (shard 0) for validators in shards 1, 2, or 3.
What’s Popping on Twitter?
Cross-chain NFTs are back with NFTHashi — a trust-minimized cross-chain NFT bridge protocol powered by Connext and Nomad, and they’re catching everyone’s attention on Twitter!
Earlier this year, we saw a glimpse of what cross-chain NFTs would like with Gh0stly Gh0sts — an omnichain NFT collection built on LayerZero, a generalized cross-chain messaging protocol. Here’s a thread with all the details in case you don’t remember 👇🏻
Gh0stly Gh0sts (GG) opened new possibilities for NFTs. Before them, multi-chain NFTs meant — locking NFT on the source chain and minting a replica on the destination chain. With Gh0stly Gh0sts, natively multi-chain NFTs became a reality as GG would burn the existing NFT on the source chain and mint native NFT on the destination chain.
The ability to mint native NFTs on different chains is truly ground-breaking, and NFTHashi takes this one step forward by enabling NFT collection to go cross-chain from Day 1 by simply integrating their SDK.
Additionally, since NFTHashi has the wrap bridging functionality, it also opens up more use cases for existing NFTs.
The future of NFTs seems to be cross-chain, and it’s fascinating to see great projects like NFTHashi building trust-minimized solutions to make this future a reality!
